Help a sista out. Which air fryer are you using and what do you like abt it? I’m ready to take the plunge and get one. However, there are so many reviews, I’m just like which one do I pick? I favor one good at doing chicken, wings, fries and root veggies. Just had the most amazing lunch at @tedsbirmingham. This family-run restaurant recently celebrated 20 years in the business. If you are looking for a #meatandthree in #bham, check them out. When you look at the steam table, you want everything. I listened to what folks were ordering. I heard a lot of fried chicken, chopped steak, baked chicken and pork chop. I went with the chopped steak, and I was not disappointed. I added green beans and #macandcheese to round out my order. You get a choice of cornbread or roll. Oh, and I almost jumped for joy when I saw they had fried #chickenlivers (Yep! I love ‘em. And yep, they are good.) This eatery run by a loving couple, Beba and Tasos Touloupis, is located near UAB. (Oh, and did I tell you the fried pies are freshly made and topped with powdered sugar?) Anyone tried the sweet kale salad kits by @yourtaylorfarms? I found mine in @publix. Omg! Soooo good! This 12 ounce bag comes with poppyseed dressing and a packet of pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. I added extra pumpkin seeds, extra dried cranberries, feta cheese and chicken. Kit contains kale, broccoli, green cabbage, Brussels sprouts and radicchio. Publix is having a special this week: 3 packages for $10. I can get 3 salads out of one package. Or if you really like big salads, you can get 2 salads out of one pack. You know what’s soooo good? The barbecue shrimp and grits at @automaticseafood. The grits are thick and creamy, just like they were meant to be. It is topped with a tomato gravy, with a touch of brisket in it. You will def get full off of this. Last night, I attended a cool pajama painting party by @nontoxc. The painting, DJ vibes and fellowship were just as awesome as the food. I was so into everything, I only got pics of these homemade desserts at the end. Run by @authenticmuse_, @nontoxc is a unique way to relax, relate and release. Consider her for your next team building event, reunion or party. She sketched out the image and we painted it. Then, she went back over it to outline our image so it would pop! We did canvas totes. Did you know #Bham’s @bizarre.thecoffeebar now has homemade cakes and cake slices from My Sweet Bakery out of Fairfield? Well, apparently other folks know because they sell 100 to 130 slices a week. And just how busy were they on #valentinesday? They sold 25 red velvet cakes and 18 slices of different cakes in about an hour, right after they were delivered. (They also have key lime cake, blue velvet cake and German chocolate cake. The cakes are $10. The slices are $3.75.) The coffee shop, now under new ownership with Will Harvill, still has its same menu. But the cakes are new. “I tried their cakes and I fell in love with them,” Will said. “Plus, he has a passion for what he does. He uses more natural ingredients for all of his products.” The coffee shop also features area chefs, art shows, open mic, book signings and more on select weekends. On Feb. 22, they will have a vegan brunch from 2 to 4 pm by Underground Vegan.
